Contest Rules
1. Eligibility: This contest is open to South Dakotans.
2. Sponsor: This Contest is sponsored by South Dakota Farmers Union
3. To Enter: Contest begins May 1, 2024 and ends on July 31, 2024.
4. All photos need to be entered via SDFU website: www.sdfu.org and click on Photo Contest link under the News & Events tab.
Photo Specifications:

a. All photos should revolve around the chosen theme: In Their Element. The images should showcase a farmer or rancher engaged in their work environment on the farm, in the fields, or on the ranch. Entries will be evaluated based on how well they capture the essence of the category.
b. All photos should be of high print quality. Digital photos should be shot at 300 DPI and 8” wide or greater.
c. Camera phone photos are allowed and should be shot on the highest resolution and size the device allows.
d. We reserve the right to disqualify photos that are not high quality.
e. Eligible photographer can submit a maximum of 5 photos.
f. Submissions must the photographer’s original work

Judging: All entries must meet the Contest requirements. A panel will review and select winners.
Prizes: A winning photographer will be selected and receive a $250 cash prize.

The winners may have their submission(s) featured in the Union Farmer, South Dakota Farmers Union newsletter, posted on social media or website as well as other media and promotional materials.

Conditions: By entering, participants agree to be bound by these complete Official Rules and Sponsor’s Privacy Policy. Sponsor reserves the right to terminate or modify the Contest at any time for any reason. In such a circumstance, winners may be selected based on entries received to date of termination. Sponsor also reserves the right to modify this Contest in the event an insufficient number of entries are received and/or an insufficient number of entries meet the minimum judging criteria.

Details: Each submission must be the original work of entrant and must not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other rights of any person or entity. By submitting your photo for this Contest, you grant South Dakota Farmers Union the right to publish your photo and any other information provided worldwide in all print and electronic media (now or hereafter existing) without time limitation, and the right to include your name and hometown (e.g., city and state) in connection therewith without compensation of any kind. SDFU reserves the right to crop, edit, modify, translate, reproduce and distribute the submitted material in any medium and in any manner as it deems appropriate. Sponsor may contact you via phone or email regarding your submission.
All photographs of any minor(s) must have the permission of each child’s parent or legal guardian authorizing contest entry and the rights set forth above for use of the photo.

Indemnification: All entrants hold the SDFU and their respective agents (“Indemnified Parties”) harmless from and against all claims of any nature arising in connection with entrant’s participation in the competition and acceptance or use of a prize. The Indemnified Parties are not liable for any costs, damages, injuries, or other claims incurred as a result of entrants’ participation in the competition or winner’s acceptance and usage of a prize.
