Who can participate?
Farming For The Future invites high school seniors and college students—undergraduate, graduate, or doctorate—studying or a current resident of South Dakota to enhance their communication skills while advocating for agriculture, regardless of their major. This program, organized by the South Dakota Farmers Union, aims to bridge the gap between farm and fork, encouraging participants to share their unique stories about agriculture and its significance in our lives.
Over seven weeks, students will network with industry professionals and engage in weekly challenges focused on specific agricultural topics, sharing insights on social media. Top performers will earn mini-scholarships each week, with points accumulated to determine overall top participants who will receive larger scholarships and the opportunity to attend the South Dakota Farmers Union State Convention in Huron, SD. The initiative emphasizes that everyone has a connection to agriculture, whether through personal experience or simply enjoying food from the grocery store.
