Farmers Union Insurance Welcomes Program Specialist Corey Wiegel of Huron

Posted on: October 18, 2021   |   Category: News Releases

Insurance is something Corey Wiegel is quite familiar with. Before the new Farmers Union Insurance Program Specialist joined the team this summer, he spent 25 years working in rural healthcare as a district manager for Sanford Health Home Medical.

“I worked in rural communities across eastern South Dakota. This experience gave me a solid understanding of how insurance works,” Wiegel explains.

When he was ready for a career change, he decided to apply for the position with Farmers Union Insurance because he knew about the company’s strong reputation for serving rural citizens. And he had heard good things about the state staff who serve insurance customers as well as family farmers and ranchers.

“I happened to know someone who works in the state office, and they raved about what a great work environment it is and what a great organization Farmers Union is,” Wiegel says. “After getting to know some members during State Fair and working here for a few months, I would have to say that my friend was correct. I have been impressed by the value the farm organization and insurance company bring to members and policyholders.”

In his new role, Wiegel will provide extensive licensing, education and other administrative support and oversight to the team of Farmers Union Insurance Agents who serve rural communities across South Dakota. Wiegel will office in Huron, the community he and his wife, Karla, call home. He and Karla have two grown children, Morgan and Nolan.
