Rural Lobbyist: CALL TO ACTION! House Ag and Natural Resources Committee to Debate COOL Legislation.

Recently family ranchers and consumers were dealt a blow with the World Trade Organization verdict on Country of Origin Labeling. Congress soon after passed a full COOL repeal and the popular meat labeling law was gone. Consumers and ranchers in South Dakota will once again have benefit from such laws if House Bill 1228 is approved by the South Dakota Legislature.

The bill will see its first action in the House Ag and Natural Resources Committee. Testimony on HB 1228 will be heard on Tuesday February 23rd at 7:45 a.m. South Dakota Farmers Union is asking any and all members to attend that committee meeting. With your help we can get COOL back, at least in South Dakota.

We have origin labels on our shirts, shoes, pants, soda bottles, and much more. The people of this state, and this nation, have a right to know where their meat comes from. If you can’t make it to the committee on Tuesday please email the legislators in your district and tell them you want COOL back.
