With a vote of 20-15, the Senate has passed HCR 1016 in support of the rancher approved and consumer friendly country of origin labeling law. The legislation has now successfully passed both bodies and in doing so, sends a clear message to our national delegations. With the WTO ruling, COOL has been under attack culminating the law’s repeal. However, HCR 1016 serves as proof that the debate surrounding COOL is far from over. With similar labeling laws in the Europoean Union and Australia, there is a path forward for COOL. South Dakota Farmers Union thanks those who voted in support of COOL. Below you will find the votes for HCR 1016 in the House and Senate. Currently the Senate list is unavailable but will posted at a later time.
